Missouri Freedom Initiative

News Letter, Jan, 24th

Happy Friday night gang. As you all know there will be no live stream tomorrow, this is a heads up on what we can do right now to help the some of the bills we support as of right now.

Senator Mike Moon’s SB25 – The Missouri Constitutional Money Act. This bill is in committee and was assigned to insurance and banking. No hearing has been scheduled as of the time of this writing. What we can do to help this along is call and/or e-mail everyone on this committee and support this bill. We support it by giving reasons why this bill would help Missouri, such as “I think this bill will really help Missouri by giving the people and businesses a tool (and confirm the state’s right under article 1 section 10 of the United States Constitution) to fight current inflation and future inflation.” Or “If our local banks started working with gold and silver it can really help micro-economies around the state.” Gold and silver maintain their purchasing power over time. Sadly, the dollar has NEVER accomplished this since the federal reserve act of 1913, this is why the dollar is referred to as currency and gold/silver are money.

Sample e-mail:

“Senator Crawford, I want to thank you first for your support of the silver and gold legal tender legislation in 2023 and 2024, it was much appreciated and I have not forgotten it. In your committee now, it is Senator Mike Moon’s SB25. I hope we can get a hearing on this bill soon so we can get this bill moving. I believe this is one the most important bills filed this year as everyone has been hurt by inflation over the past 4 years which was caused by overprinting the dollar. Silver and gold values have risen to match the inflation, in other words, silver and gold have maintained their purchasing power while the dollar has lost approximately 30% of its purchasing power during the same period in the past 4 years. The free market solutions for use of gold and silver for transactions are available but since we have capital gains on silver and gold in Missouri, the businesses that provide these solutions currently are not in Missouri. If Missouri were to get rid of capital gains on gold and silver (SB25 does this) business and jobs for transactional gold and silver will come to this state. This is an option that people in the state want, and the Constitution of the United States allows for this. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation as well. Please contact me if you would like more information or would like to have a conversation on SB25.”

PLEASE do not copy and paste, please re-write if you use this template.

Senate Insurance and Banking Committee members:

Chair: Senator Sandy Crawford (573) 751-8793 email
Vice chair: Senator David Greggory (573) 751-5568 email
Senator Justin Brown (573) 751-5713 email
Senator Lincoln Hough (pronounced “Huff”) (573) 751-1311 email
Senator Tracy McCreery (573) 751-9762 email
Senator Angela Mosley (573) 751-2420 email
Senator Curtis Trent (573) 751-1503 email

When contacting any Senator or Representative, please stay positive. Let them know that you support the bill with enthusiasm. Try to smile when you talk on the phone. Many people can “hear” that you are smiling when you are talking on the phone. Most of the time, you’ll be leaving a voice mail message or talking to their LA (Legislative Assistant) or Chief of Staff. If you call  on an evening or weekend, voicemail is the only option. I do this a lot as it works better with my schedule.

Witness forms can be filled out but only at the capital itself If you happen to be at the capital, please ask Senator Moon’s staff for a witness form for SB25. There are no electronic witness forms currently for anything in the Senate. I honestly do not know if we will have a hearing on Tuesday, January 28th at this time. Senator Crawford has until noon on Monday to notice up the hearing if it is to be Tuesday next week.

The John Birch Society is helping with Constitutional Money Act with an email system. This simple, easy to use system will email your Senator and Representative in a single turnkey move. Although I do not like “robo” e-mails and I suspect many legislators do not care much for them either, they can be helpful, especially for folks who have a hard time writing one supporting legislation. This easy to use system is found right here. You will notice you can customize your email that you send. I recommend you do so and ask for co-sponsors at the same time. Remember, when serving on a committee in the general assembly, the Representatives and Senators are serving all constituents in the state in that capacity. There is no issue with calling a Senator that doesn’t represent your district and speak with them about a bill in their committee, and even ask them to vote a certain way in committee.

Representative Bill Hardwick’s HB433 – The Constitutional Money Act House companion bill to SB25 is HB433 and is still awaiting committee assignment. This should be in the next few weeks. As of this time, it has 10 co-sponsors. Let’s keep working for more co-sponsors. Same deal, emails and/or phone calls. Whatever you can do. One Initiative member (Carrie Gaither) was able to get 3 co-sponsors for HB433 last week while on her lunch break at work simply by e-mailing 3 representatives. I usually prefer to call rather than email but I am doing both. On the next live stream, I will call a representative’s office that has not co-sponsored yet so you can see/hear how I usually approach this when leaving voice mail.

That’s all for now gang. I will work on our other bills next week. I hope you all have a Blessed weekend.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

Jan.18 News Letter

Happy Saturday gang. We’ll be live tonight at 7:30 PM on the usual platforms: Twitter (X), Rumble, Odysee and You Tube.

We’ll do a situation report on Senator Mike Moon’s SB25 and Representative Bill Hardwick’s HB433 after our first visit to the capital this past Wednesday (1-15-25). A special thank you to everyone who came in to help with Knock and Shock. It was a smaller group this time but the group was very active and effective.

We also got a read on the other legislation we are supporting. We’ll talk more about this tonight.

Co-sponsorships for the Constitutional Money Act are growing. This is definitely a positive move but we can ALWAYS have more. The more co-sponsors a bill has, the higher priority it becomes. Let’s keep those phone calls and emails rolling in – in support of these bills and asking for co-sponsorships. HB433 has 9 co-sponsors to date, SB25 has 2 (so far).

As a quick reminder, we will not be streaming next weekend, I will be out of town. Another reminder that we no longer meet in Guilded for the live stream, we meet in Signal (at least for now).

For lack of time today, I am going to end it here. I hope to see you tonight on the live stream.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

Jan, 11th News Letter

Happy Saturday gang! We’ll be live tonight on the usual platforms. You can watch on Twitter (X), Rumble, Odysee or You Tube. We’ll be on signal again tonight for the group. The link is down below if you’d like to be a part of the live stream.

Our first Knock and Shock of 2025 is next Wednesday (1-15-25). We will meet at Senator Mike Moon’s office at 9:00AM. (So far, the weather looks favorable for travel to the capital). Mike Moon’s office is #220 (second floor of the capital). For those who have never joined us at the capital before, we refer to this as “home base.” Home base is an office that we can hang up our jackets, leave our lunch boxes and even leave a concealed weapon for safe keeping (several parts of the capital do not allow weapons).

Most commonly asked questions for visiting the capital for Knock and Shock:

  1. Can I bring my conceal carry weapon? Answer: If you have a CCW permit, your weapon is allowed in the capital. If you are a Constitutional conceal carry holder (no permit), the answer is no. Weapons are not permitted in viewing galleries and various other places, so we can always leave our weapons at home base (Senator Moon’s office) if we need to venture into these areas.
  2. What if I cannot get there by 9:00AM (start time)? Answer: This happens a lot and is not a problem. If you cannot be there when we start, just go to home base when you arrive and either Luke (Moon’s Legislative Assistant) or Jeff (Moon’s Chief of Staff) will call one of the group leaders so someone from the group can go to the office and bring you to the group. Knock and Shock usually runs from 9:00AM to 5:00PM but if you can only join for an hour, we’d love to have you join us.
  3. Can I bring my own lunch? Answer: Absolutely. Although there is a nice restaurant in the capital and many restaurants around the capital, some folks prefer to bring their own lunch. We usually break for lunch around noon. We usually meet at the capital restaurant for this even if you bring your own lunch. Purchasing an average lunch at the capital is generally around $10 to $12.00 BTW. Also, there are plenty of vending machines around the capital and free coffee (if you know where to find it – which I do J ).
  4. Where do I park? There are MANY places to park around the capital. There is a parking garage and metered parking right next to the capital but there are many free parking options very close to the capital as well. Click on the map below for more details.
  5. “I have never done this before, I am nervous and I do not want to speak to legislators.” We see this with a lot of new folks. This describes me back in 2002 when I ventured to the capital for the first time (pro-life rally). There is no requirement to speak to legislators, however; it is a VERY good idea to talk to YOUR Senator and Representative when you are there, even if it’s just to let them know you live in their district. We encourage this. Building relationships with your legislators is very important. Make sure your legislators know your name AND what YOUR legislative priorities are. This should be EVERYONE’S goal when visiting the capital. It helps when you are in a larger group if you are uncomfortable speaking. Remember, ALL of us have as much ownership of government as our representation does.
  6. Do I need to bring anything with me? Answer, generally, no. Just bring yourself and a few family members and/or friends if you can, the larger the group – the better. I design and print out all the handouts we give to legislators in advance of the trip. We generally always have extra flyers if you would like to take one home. However, I encourage folks to create their own handouts too if they want to. Printing in color is a good idea. Very few grassroots use color, and color flyers get attention.
  7. Can I be a group leader? Answer: Absolutely. Sometimes we have over 30 people show for Knock and Shock and when that happens, it’s generally better to divide into smaller groups. This serves many purposes. It’s very, very difficult to squeeze 30 folks into a Senator’s office but it’s virtually impossible in most Representative’s offices. Groups of 10-15 is usually how we do this. Also, with more than 1 group, we can cover the 200 legislators’ offices much more quickly. Group leaders are chosen in the morning before we start and if necessary again after lunch. We encourage anyone who wants to lead a group to do so.
  8. This is not really a question but a best practice point. It is bad form to be rude or to argue with a legislator. I am not saying you cannot disagree with them but in the past we’ve had folks in our group that have deliberately verbally attacked legislators with an axe to grind. This NEVER helps our cause, in fact, it hurts our cause. It’s virtually impossible to have a positive influence on a legislator if you have been rude to them and it reflects badly on the group. Another way to look at this is; can someone who is rude to you change your mind to give them something they want and need your help to get it? The answer is almost certainly no. Legislators are human, they can make mistakes just like the rest of us and respond virtually the same way everyone else does to personal attacks. Positive actions and conversations are statistically more likely to garner positive results. Constructive criticism of legislation is definitely encouraged! If you have an idea on how to improve a piece of legislation, do not keep it to yourself, let the bill sponsor know your thoughts! They are often very grateful for the input and more often than not, amend their own bill with better ideas they get from constituents. This practice is one of the more memorable positive experiences you can have with a legislator. If a legislator lets us down or breaks a promise, they are ALWAYS approached about that incident but usually via phone or email or sometimes in a scheduled meeting.

Knock and Shock Mission: Get co-sponsors for the bills we support (especially the Constitutional Money Act), bring information (flyers) to legislators, answer questions about the bills we are supporting for legislators, introduce ourselves to new legislators and build on existing relationships with legislators and finally, make sure everyone who can make it from the Initiative is known to their representation. This will help you with all future contacts you have with your Senator and Representative.

For those of you who have not heard, Justin Sparks lost his bid to be House Speaker. Jonathan Patterson received almost all the votes in the House, including the Democrat vote. He is officially the Speaker for the next two years. We accept this and we move on. It doesn’t change what we would do in the capital.

Supported bills: Last Saturday we submitted, discussed and decided on the bills we will be supporting for 2025. They are as follows in order of vote totals…

  1. HB433 Sponsor Bill Hardwick – The Constitutional Money Act (and by extension Mike Moon’s SB25).
  2. SB75 – Sponsor Brad Hudson – Removes the sunset clause from the S.A.F.E. Act.
  3. HB658 – Sponsor Jeff Vernetti – Prohibits the use of automated traffic enforcement systems and the use of automated license plate readers.
  4. HB561 – Sponsor Mitch Boggs – Modifies provisions relating to the placement of any surveillance or game camera on private property
  5. SJR7 – Sponsor Rick Brattin – Replaces the property tax on real property with a sales tax

Tonight on the live stream, Isaac joins us again after delving into filed legislation and just like last year, more bills have introduced that benefit very few people and contain World Economic Forum agendas. These are bills that MUST die. Details tonight on the live stream. I’ve noticed that when Isaac is on, we get more views. The information he provides is invaluable and he is often invited to speak with legislators in meetings at the capital with his findings.

Lastly, it’s been a while since I linked up Gretchen Garrity’s blog. Gretchen and her husband John are fighting the good fight to get the smut intended for children out of easy reach for children in the Christian County libraries. Gretchen does more than this obviously but things are heating up in the library controversy. Gretchen covers all this and more in her blog and she is a regular contributor in our live streams and regularly ventures up to the capital. You can visit Gretchen’s blog here.

Don’t forget Sam Britton and his Sunday show “Off the Cuff” on Missouri Liberty Radio Sundays at 6:00PM to 9:00PM.

John Williams with Missouri Liberty Report had his live stream last night. You can view the program here on Rumble or here on You Tube.

That’s all for now gang, I hope to see you tonight on the stream. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have for Knock and Shock at Patrick@mofree.org

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

Tuesday Jan. 7 Special Report

Hey gang! Nothing like a mid-week update. Several things are going on so I thought I would send out a reminder email.

Tomorrow (January 8) is the swearing into office of folks that were elected in November. This all takes place at the Missouri Capital in Jefferson City. Traditionally, grassroots folks tend to show up to enjoy the festivities and introduce themselves to newly elected legislators. It is also a good opportunity to get co-sponsors on bills. For the Constitutional Money Act, there are 2 bills that we’d love to see co-sponsors on. Firstly, Senator Mike Moon’s SB25 and secondly, Representative Bill Hardwick’s HB433. It is unclear if I can make it up there tomorrow (based on work schedule) so if anyone is going up, remember to ask for co-sponsorships for these bills that represent the best of the bills for the Constitutional Money Act.

The Missouri Freedom Initiative’s first Knock and Shock campaign will be on January 15 (Next Wednesday). I am currently working on the full color flyers we will be distributing. It will be done before our live stream on Saturday, the 11th so everyone can see it before the event. I will have these flyers printed for the event. The mission on the 15th is to introduce ourselves to newly elected legislators, promote the Constitutional Money Act (as well as the other bills selected by the group this past Saturday) AND get co-sponsors for both bills (SB25 and HB433). I intend to make a two flyers, one for the House and one for the Senate.

I will attempt to get a meeting with the newly elected House Speaker (if possible) scheduled in advance to talk about the Constitutional Money Act and the benefits for Missourians that this bill provides.

In regards to the House speaker, tomorrow is the day when the Speaker of the House is officially elected by their peers. Jonathan Patterson and Justin Sparks are the two contenders. There has been a LOT of controversy over this as Patterson, who runs as a Republican is often taking a more liberal stance on red meat conservative issues – But there REAL issue here is the House Rules. The House Rules are voted on every two years when a new Speaker is elected. In the past 20 years, the House Rules have become seriously centralized to take power away from elected Representatives and place that power with the office of the House Speaker. This is part and parcel of why Missouri, with its Republican super majority never seems to get much done on issues conservatives have in their platform. Justin Sparks promises to change that if elected speaker. His promise is to de-centralize and give power back to the elected Representatives. I am not sure that Jonathan Patterson would be interested in doing this, at least not to the extent as promised by Sparks. There is a LOT more to this story that involves the power elite in Missouri and out of state interests (please tune in on the live stream on the 11th for more details). The power elite and out of state interests would like to see Patterson installed as House Speaker. A petition from REPACCMO can be signed by anyone wishing to see Sparks as Speaker. You can find the petition here. Please read the petition, even if you don’t want to sign it. This is part of the painful process Missouri must go through eventually to give the power back to the people through their elected Representatives. For reasons of full disclosure, I did sign the petition on behalf of myself only. If you want to support Justin Spark’s bid for the Speakership, you have only tonight and tomorrow morning to do so.

To contact your rep, here is the House Roster to find their phone number/email address.

Every New Year brings hope that things will change in Jefferson City and that the government will be more responsive to the people of Missouri. With this in mind, we need to remember that everyone who serves is human and every human makes mistakes. Determining the motivations for actions is important in the political realm but often difficult to discern. We are all products of the choices we make in our lives. That is EXACTLY why everyone is unique and different from one another. As much as it is important to point out mistakes by a politician, it is also important to recognize when they do the right thing, which is something that is easy to forget.

I will try to make it to the Capital tomorrow but won’t know if I can actually go until very late tonight.

I want to let folks know that we are still having problems e-mailing everyone currently on the Yahoo and Aol domains. As a reminder, every email I send out is put on the blog section of our website. So if you have missed any e-mails, you can always read the latest on our website. These problems happen when folks join the email list and then report the emails I send out as spam. Many organizations have moved to text messaging because of this malicious practice used by folks who disagree with constitutional/conservative messages and/or information via e-mail and yet, sign up to receive the e-mails.

That’s all for now gang. May God Bless our mission to instill more freedom and liberty in the State of Missouri.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

Jan.4 News Letter

Happy Saturday gang! We’ll be live tonight at 7:30PM Central (1-4-25). We’ll be on the usual platforms tonight. Twitter (X), Rumble, Odysee and You Tube.

Tonight is the night we decide on what legislation to support in 2025. Bring your favorite 3 bills to the table for consideration and for a vote tonight. You can join us in signal to present your bills or put them in the comments section of any platform . We’ll be paring down a bit compared to previous years, we will only be taking in 3 bills this year. In past years we have supported 5, which is administratively a heavy load and I will not have as much time this year as I have had in past years (due to continuing trips to Minnesota). So let’s bring in the best of the best bills for consideration. The rules are still the same with just one caveat. If you have not joined us for any knock and shock missions to the capital or participated in phone call and email campaigns, please do not submit bills for consideration. This will cut down on the time necessary to go through and vote on the bills and prevent folks who are not willing to help do the work from steering the organization for their own interests.

As is our custom, we will be bringing forth legislation live tonight to vote for the legislation our organization will support for the 2025 legislative season. The rules are simple. The legislation MUST comply with Article 1 Section 2 of the Missouri Constitution. This clause simply states that any laws must apply to everyone equally. 90% of Missouri legislation misses that mark because most legislation benefits specific corporations, specific industries, specific groups of people or the government itself. Supporting legislation that is equally applied to all Missouri citizens is also a great way to remind legislators not to exceed their mandate and to keep their oaths of office and their commitment to the Missouri Constitution and their constituents. We will be choosing 3 bills to support in 2025. Other considerations include bills that must help protect Missouri and the sovereignty of the residents from threats such as the Missouri government itself, or from the federal government and even foreign governments and threats (such as the UN). Working with these parameters, we can help prevent Missouri from turning into Illinois or California. Please do not bring more than 3 bills for consideration. Our votes will be live and uncensored.

While some folks consider this “democratic” approach somewhat chaotic and messy, that’s because it has been in the past. Any time you get a group of folks together with differing interests and with voting power for what bills will be supported by the group and have the logo on any printed paperwork that is distributed in the capital, you have to be cautious. Although legislation wildly differs, the intent to keep or enhance our freedoms and to strengthen Missouri’s sovereignty should be the ONLY goal of this organization’s effort in the capital. Sometimes, these worlds collide with differing perspectives. Here’s an example…

Americans For Prosperity have announced their goal in Missouri in 2025 is to work on eliminating state income tax. Since only about 35% of Missourians pay income tax, it will only benefit 35% of the people? Right? Well, it actually benefits businesses too, there are less payroll taxes to calculate, and businesses will benefit from people having extra money and spending it with them. Seem reasonable? Let’s look at sales tax for food as another choice for a tax cut.

In Missouri, we have sales tax on food. Most states do not have this tax. However, 100% of Missourians eat food (although I do not know this for a fact, I feel statistically I cannot go wrong with my estimation ;). So if sales tax on food was eliminated, 100% of Missourians would benefit. Businesses that sell groceries would benefit by lightening the paperwork load on collecting the tax on groceries and sending it to the state. People will have more money to spend on groceries or anything else for that matter if grocery tax was eliminated. Most folks consider sales tax on groceries immoral (majority of states do not have this tax). As inflation keeps the prices of groceries going up, it keeps the tax going up as well because sales tax on food is a percentage tax. The steak that used to cost you $10 is now costing $18. You’ve nearly doubled the price of the steak and the sales tax simultaneously.

So, under Article 1 Section 2 of the Missouri Constitution, elimination of the sales tax on groceries complies much more closely to the letter and spirit of the Missouri Constitution. For that matter, eliminating Missouri gasoline tax is second best (after elimination of grocery sales tax) and eliminating property tax also is in MUCH closer alignment with the Missouri Constitution than eliminating Missouri income tax.

For 2 years, the Missouri Freedom Initiative fought hard to rid our state of grocery sales tax. We know the arguments against it, we know Representative Plocher (House Speaker) simply would not let it on the House floor for debate and perfection. He was honest and upfront with one of our members saying “This bill will not make it to the floor.” However, I think it’s important to point out, this is how Plocher operated. He was outside his mandate, he wasn’t for the people, he wasn’t for sovereignty or freedom. Plocher had an agenda and Missouri’s legislature was the main tool for him to work on his agenda. No one quite knows what to expect from Patterson or if Patterson will care about thousands of calls going into his office from the people of Missouri. Plocher simply did not care.

This was just an example of how one tax cut complies much more closely with the Missouri Constitution than another tax cut.

That’s it for now gang. I hope to see you tonight on the stream. Please do not forget Knock and Shock on January 15.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.
